I got a job as a librarian a few months ago, and i was shocked i couldn't actually read. So i started out with fun non-fiction books (mainly about dogs) haha and now i am finishing a few books a week! So good, i love reading now

I'm a CS sophomore. I loved reading when I was in high school, too. I want to start reading again. I'll start with John Green novels.

I also really like to read. Book series like the hunger games, harry potter, maze runner, narnia,... Are wonderful to get lost in. My "problem" at the moment is that I read so much - not books, but just on my smartphone/computer - during the day that I often don't really have "enough energy" left at the end of the day to read. Watching a show/stream/video doesn't need my complete attention and is something I can "passively" do. So i can completely relate to you. Hopefully I can get back more into reading

When I was in school I've been 'forced' to read certain books. Then we had tests based on those books. It was nightmare for me. But the main problem was that I had to read them. Some of them could have been decent, maybe even fun to read. At the same time I've always read some books 'not for school', some fiction and stuff, and I really enjoyed it. I still do. It's always great to get away from problems of this world :)

I got back into reading by doing two things:

  1. I stopped reading really fast, which I got used to as a college student. I always remind my self with a quote along the lines of "haste makes waste".
  2. I had a 45 minute bus-ride from home to college and I got bored of listning to music, so I decided to grab a children's book - I think it was Narnia - and read it. And indeed just as you said it was really easy for me to engross myself in the world of the story because this is a children's book after all. I eventually got bored of the story - too predicatble and simple - eventaull started reading higher level books, like autobiographies, adult fiction and novels (especially translated japanese novels).

My favorite author is Mitch Albom so far, and his book, Tuesday's with Morrie, is my favorite book of all time, for now that is. P. S. Reading also improved my writing skills, which was a great help in writing my ton of assignments!
