Mozzarella is a generic term for several kinds of Italian cheeses that are made using spinning and then cutting, hence the name, as the Italian verb "mozzare" means "to cut".

Our Mozzarella is made of cow's milk, in Italy it is referred to as "Fior di latte" (also written as "fiordilatte"), as to distinguish Mozzarella that's made from buffalo's milk.

We make our Mozzarella twice a week, according to the cheese-making traditions of Puglia, the region in Italy we come from.
It has to be fresh to fully appreciate its delicate texture and taste. After 4 days it can still be enjoyed on pizza or melted on bruschetta, but if you're planning to serve a delicious Italian Caprese salad for lunch, the Mozzarella has to be as fresh as possible.

Come and see us at one of the farmers' markets, because no supermarket can give you the freshness of our handcrafted Mozzarella. Once tasted you don't want anything else!

About us:

Welcome! We are cheesemakers from Italy, making award winning cheeses like Mozzarella and Ricotta right here in New Zealand from locally sourced cows' milk. All our cheeses are handmade without any preservatives. We make them according to the cheese-making traditions of Puglia, Italy.

We sell our cheeses at farmers' markets around Auckland and we supply some of the best restaurants here. So you might have already come across our Mozzarella. If you're in Auckland, go to our 'Where to Buy' page to find out which markets we'll be at. Hope to catch you there!

Otherwise, if you'd like to order some of our cheese, don't hesitate to contact us, we'd love to hear from you.

ABOUT US

Design Energy started as one guy (Mike) working out of his office at home, providing outstanding engineering solutions to New Zealand manufacturers.
As it turns out this proved popular, meaning in a short time there was more demand for Mike’s time than there were hours in the day.
So the team grew.....

Designing and building robotic production systems is an attractive proposition for engineers. So Mike was able to hand pick engineers capable of producing the same levels of outstanding work that Design Energy had become known for. Mike didn’t always get the right person and engineers who struggled with the extremely high expectations came and went, till what was left was a team of extremely talented and highly motivated engineers.Word of this team got around and Design Energy was approached by two of the world’s top robotic companies to represent their brands in New Zealand. The team took up this challenge and trained with Nachi and Universal Robots technical staff to become experts in the specification and integration of their robots.

SRA (Long Reach Robots)

Fibre Optic Lighting

Acusafe LED Light Engine
The Acusafe solid state light engine has been designed to fit inside a 50mm safety rail upright in the middle of a 6m section. Dimensions are 148mm long x 50mm DiaSix 3mm fibre optics at a maximum length of 3m are illuminated from the light engine with an adjustable light output of 50 – 280 Lux at termination. The light engine has a maximum energy consumption of 7w at 12v AC or DC.All colours are available. FutureFlux heat transfer system has been utilised to enable high rate heat transfer to the outside of module and in turn to the upright as the heat sink. The solid state light engine has its own proprietary IC that enables voltage regulation, current regulation and intelligent thermal control to ensure overheating cannot occur. The IC also interrogates the light engine continuously and will give a contact closure “default” if it needs replacing.
Should power be lost to the light engine the default contact closure will operate.
Our testing indicates a specified life of over 53,000 hours. This does not mean the light engine will fail but the light degeneration would reach LM80 level of 80% of its original Lux. This would flag a maintenance replacement initiative. This equates to 12 hours per day times 12 Years. Or continuous use at 24 hours per day times 6 Years. The light engine body is manufactured from high-density aluminium that will withstand high temperatures in the case of fire, and any compression whilst in situ with the rail. All electronics are marine grade and are in situ with the body. The body cannot be dismantled once completed as all components are in situ with Futureflux heat transfer medium. The components and finished light engine meet the following standards. UL, DLC, FCC, CTick, RCM, TUV, PSC, CE, MEPS AU, Independent testing is currently underway – Futurebrite Certification: RCM 5553

The KAG Safety Rail is also available with encased fibre-optic LED lighting to provide added safety underground and at night. Services such as water, electrical, air/gas and data can be safely concealed inside the rail

Benefits
Light engine is small and fits inside railing uprightOnly 7w full energy consumption – low voltage – safe.No fan or moving parts – reliable solid state. Completely waterproof and submersible. Protected by hardened aluminium shell and then placed inside railing. Proven components from leading manufacturers – reliability Alarm output for testing and maintenanceData output if required reading any component. Long life over 53,000 hours Can be used for rail and passageway lighting Illuminated arrows showing exit in case of fireCost effective only 1 light engine per 6m. Can be configured with changing colours for safe or danger view all
