Queenstown Bucket-List Adventures - New Zealand

Queenstown Bucket-List Adventures - New Zealand My boyfriend and I have just ticked off a few incredible bucket list adventures in Queenstown New Zealand and I'm super excited to share them with you in today's video. I've wanted to skydive for years and finally got to experience that incredible feeling of throwing myself out of a plane at 15,000 ft thanks to the amazing team at NZONE Queenstown. Doing a skydive has been one of the most thrilling things I've ever done and to get the chance to do it in one of the most beautiful places on earth (and with my man) was just amazing. I also got to tick off a few other thrill-seeking adventures while we were away so today's video is all about our trip and what we got up to. If you ever get the chance to head to New Zealand's south island then Queenstown is an absolute must-see. There is something for everyone too. Whether you're into thrill-seeking or prefer a quieter getaway, then Queenstown really does offer it all - great scenery, cool cafes and restaurants, great people and loads of cool activities. We also stayed at an amazing minimalist hotel called mi-pad. It's New Zealand's only smart hotel and you can manage your stay via an app on your phone which acts as your very own personal virtual concierge - it's genius. If you want to find out more about mi-pad or to book your next stay you can take a look here: https://www.mipadhotels.com Also mi-pad has just been nominated for a world travel award and you can vote for mi-pad here:  https://www.worldtravelawards.com/vot... If you've ever been to Queenstown I'd love to hear what you got up to in the comments below and if you're keen to visit then I'd love to hear why too. Anyway, thanks SO much for watching this video and I hope you enjoy my BF's cool Kiwi commentary too. Leonie view all

Di ko talaga ineexpect. Actually, little back story lang, di kasi kami nagkaroon ng picture ni Jay nung nagpropose sya sakin kahit isa. Kaya tinake nya yung chance magpropose para sa memory kahit kasal na kami. Haha! view all

This is why you should never drive distracted in New Zeland

This month, Police across Auckland will be taking an extra focus on distracted drivers. The following video is about the late 17 year old Ruby-Jean and her family. On a fateful day, whilst Ruby-Jean was driving home, she was distracted. While the cause of her distraction is not known, the ultimate cost is her life. Whether you’re reaching to change the music, pick up your phone, or daydream out the window, your attention is needed on the road. You need to focus. Focusing will get you home to your loved ones. Thank you to Waiuku College and ShowQuest for allowing us to show their video. But most of all, thank you to Ruby-Jean’s friends and family for allowing us to tell her story. She was an incredibly loved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies continue to be with them. view all

DHH’s keynote at RailsConf 2019 “on the topic of open source, markets, debts, purpose, and no less than the meaning of life.”

AMY wrote the post • 0 comments • 575 views • 2019-05-26 23:31 • added this tag no more than 24h

DHH’s keynote at RailsConf 2019 “on the topic of open source, markets, debts, purpose, and no less than the meaning of life.” It’s pretty wide-ranging (he discusses Marcus Aurelius and David Graeber, Dostoyevsky and Daniel Pink, and throws a little Kierkegaard in the mix, so you know this is going to be a little off-the-wall) but I like the general point: that “open source” can be viewed through a broader perspective than a market metaphor. Broadly, he argues that thinking purely in market terms can be reductionist (there’s more to it than a spectrum with Bill Gates on the one side and Richard Stallman on the other), and that adopting the MIT license is compatible with seeking “happiness” in the sense of finding meaning and purpose with your work – a goal which is harder to achieve with copyright or the GPL. Whether or not you agree with the conclusion, I think it makes for an interesting read.
