The Nelson Service Centre work with children and young people who need therapeutic placements. The Foster Parent Social Worker position is central to our ambitious plans for children. The Foster Parent Social Worker is responsible for leading a programme of recruitment, training and approvals for Foster Parents, as well as placement and support to the Nelson Foster Parents.
OHF is committed to mobilising the mainstream Christian community to serve Tamariki and Whanau in Aotearoa New Zealand.
The successful applicant will have:
Foster care and social work experience
A passion for care that meets the trauma needs of children
Registration with SWRB or in process of registering
Good knowledge of The Oranga Tamariki Act 1989 and its Family Court processes
An in-depth understanding of how the role recognises the special relationship between Maori and Tauiwi
An authentic, driven and caring nature
A Full, Clean Drivers Licence
We will be providing our Foster Parents with training, focusing on trauma informed care and building networks of support around the children we care for.
