Weka, Mike and Josh head off the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand to catch a northern pacific Bluefin Tuna, when we get out top the Hokitika Trench we discover the Hoki COmmercial trawlers have left the area due to low fish numbers. This area is a spawning ground for Hoki and the fishery has been decimated from overfishing. The trawlers have now gone to the east coast of the south island to the juvenile Hoki fishery to attempt ti fill their quota. We dont catch any tuna but end up with a few tablefish caught over the foul ground where the trawlers cant trawl. view all

 

 
 
we head out offshore to the Hokitika trench off the West Coast of New Zealands South Island to target deep sea monsters. 60km out to sea the target species are swordfish and some tablefish. Groper/hapuka and bluenose live in depths of up to 450 metres and are excellent eating. The firm white flesh is succulent and delicious. We give a lot of fish away to single mums and low income families so nothing is wasted. Even the guts goes into the garden to feed our vegetables. We head to South Westland for our first Rod and Rifle Rafting Expedition of the spring, the deer are still not on the grass yet so hunting is a bit slow but we manage to score a set of deer nads to throw on the BBQ for Butch to have a crack at. Deer hunting view all

Mount Maunganui's Cody Cooper has confirmed he will battle it out against the World’s best at this year’s Monster Energy S-X Open Auckland at Mt Smart Stadium on November 16.




In a first for New Zealand Cooper will race the premier class at the S-X Open Auckland taking on the likes of 2-time World Champion and defending S-X Open FIM Oceania Supercross Champion Chad Reed, 2018 World Champion Jason Anderson, 2019 World number 8 & 10,  Joey Savatgy and Justin Brayton plus many more.

The solar powered e-assisted recumbent trike, Solatrike, is on it's way from Auckland to Hamilton - not on the direct route. The weather is changing and it got into a heavy storm. Even though the trip will fulfill 36'000km on this part. Have fun with the irony in this part of the trip. 2019 S-X Open Auckland Post Race Press Conference - COOPER, ANDERSON, CLOUT & METCALFE
As the Monster Energy S-X Open concludes in Auckland for 2019, fans were treated to an action-packed show that saw the event reach it’s climax when 2018 World Supercross Champion Jason Anderson took the top honours in the premier SX1 Class, and subsequently assumes the points lead in the S-X Open FIM Oceania Supercross Championship. Anderson didn’t have it easy however, with a stiff challenge from new Australian Championship points leader Luke Clout, who stood on the podium in P2 with a victory in race two of the Triple Crown format, along with South Australian legend Brett Metcalfe, who took third overall. The next round will take place in Melbourne’s iconic Marvel Stadium on November 30 for the first time ever, where champions in each category will be crowned, in front of over 35,000 fans, in what will be the largest ever Supercross event in history in the Oceania region.
